Leo Messi wins ESPY Award

Another award for Leo Messi. This time he has been awarded an ESPY (Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) for Best International Athlete. The other sportspeople shortlisted for the prestigious honour presented by TV channel ESPN were fellow footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, tennis’ Novak Djokovic and golfer Yani Tseng.

Messi thus follows on from the likes of Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova and Usain Bolt, winners of the award in previous years.

Leo Messi ended the 2011/12 season with record 73 official goals for FC Barcelona, and helped his side to victories in the Spanish and European Supercups, the Clubs World Cup and the Copa del Rey.
